Portfolio - some examples of my previous work.
My software has been used in partnerships
and deals with companies including DreamWorks, New Line
Cinema, Universal, Disney, ComedyCentral, Detour Magazine,
LoadTV, PlusE and United Power in Japan.
A lot of my work has been
involved in video on demand and robust delivery of large
amounts of data over the Internet. I have created video on
demand solutions with unique features for their
time, such as video subscriptions. Allowing you to
watch pre-cached video's of the latest Reuters news. You could
subscribe to different video subscriptions and the latest
videos would automatically be politely downloaded in the
background to your PC, similar to RSS
feeds of today. Allowing you to
watch much higher quality video than
streaming video. My software featured full error recovery so
that interruptions to your
Internet connection never
caused any loss of data
or videos. The publishing system also
had built in error recovery
allowing you to batch huge
amounts of video uploads and
have their delivery guaranteed.
Other video
on demand solutions I developed featured
multi-threaded downloading from multiple sources
making it possibly the fasted
delivery solution for high quality video
over the Internet. I demonstrated
this technology to the CEO of
Chunghwa Telecom (Taiwan's national
Telco).
In Taiwan we were able to
play full screen high quality
progressively downloaded video perfectly
while streaming video from the
same server in the U.S.
was jerky, interrupted and unwatchable.

Quote from Vodexa, company
president.
We have been asked to come in to
DreamWorks and talk to the Studio
Executives about the capabilities of
our technology and this is why, "Speilberg
looked at time machine on the web
and thought it looked amazing with
Vodexa technology".

The
PlusE network is a good example of
high quality video on a very
scaleable system. The system was built
to allow publishing of DVD
quality (2000 kbps Windows Media Format) full screen
video to a central data center and
then have this content pushed to
many local data stores over a large
geographical area. From these local
data stores each video terminal is
pushed content based on publishing
rules stored in a database. The
content is stored on the terminals
local hard drive to allow DVD
playback on thousands of machines
simultaneously.

I have developed
plug-ins for various web browsers
allowing users to just click on the
content and experience seamless
video on demand or video
subscriptions.

LoadTV was an Internet startup that
provided high quality video on
demand. For its time in 1999 many
people said it was the best quality
video available over the Internet.
Its revolutionary features included
very robust error recovery, the
ability to not use bandwidth when
other programs were accessing the
Internet and video subscriptions.
Allowing you to automatically
receive and watch the news every
morning when you arrive at the
office. The company was in the RedHerring.com top 50.
